LOCKDOWN 2: DAY 19

SOME PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING.

FOR THOSE WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

O Holy Spirit who dost delve into all things,

even the deep things of God

and the deep things of humanity,

we pray thee to penetrate the springs of personality

of all who are sick in mind,

to bring them cleansing, healing, and unity.

Sanctify all memory, dispel all fear,

assure them of love,

that they may be made whole

and glorify Thee for ever.

We ask this in the Name of him

who healed minds and soothed spirits,

Jesus Christ our Lord.

I CANNOT DO THIS ALONE....

A Prayer of Dietrich Bonhoeffer

O, God, help us to pray and concentrate our thoughts on you.

We cannot do this alone.

In us there is darkness, but in you there is light.

We are lonely, but you leave us not.

We are feeble in heart, but with you there is peace.

In us there is bitterness, but with you there is patience.

We do not understand your ways, but you know the way for us.

Help us, O God, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

DIVINE DISCONTENT - George Appleton

Hasten the time, O Lord,

when no one shall live in contentment

while knowing that others have need.

Inspire in us and in people of all nations

the desire for social justice,

that the hungry may be fed,

the homeless welcomed,

the sick healed,

and a just order established in the world,

according to thy gracious will

made known in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

FOR THOSE IN TROUBLE by William Barclay

O God the Father,

bless those for whom life is very difficult,

Those who have difficult decisions to make

and who honestly do not know what is the right thing to do;

Those who have difficult tasks to do and to face,

and who fear they may fail in them;

Those who have difficult temptations to face,

and who know only too well that they may fall to them,

if they try to meet them alone;

Those who have a difficult temperament and nature to master,

and who know that they can be their own worst enemies;

Those who have difficult people with whom to work,

those who have to suffer unjust treatment,

unfair criticism,

unappreciated work;

Those who are sad because someone they loved has died;

Those who are disappointed

in something for which they hoped very much;

Those who have been hurt by their enemies,

or, what is far more bitter,

by the faithlessness and the disloyalty of their friends.

Bless us, O God,

with whatever you know we need

and in what we bring to you now. Amen.
