TODAY WE PRAY FOR THOSE IN HIGH STREET BUSINESSES,
FARMERS AND SMALL BUSINESSES, ANXIOUS IN THE FACE
OF THIS PANDEMIC AND SECOND LOCKDOWN.
"I have learnt to manage on whatever I have.
I know how to be poor and I know how to be rich too.
I have been through my initiation
and now I am ready for anything anywhere:
full stomach or empty stomach,
poverty or plenty.
There is nothing I cannot master
with the help of the One
who gives me strength."
St Paul, in his letter to The Philippians, chapter 4.
SOME PRAYER REQUESTS FROM LOCAL PEOPLE IN BUSINESS
"As a dairy farm, we are thankful for the tanker drivers who call every day to collect the milk. In parts of England, due to falling demand, farmers are pouring their milk down the drain as they don’t have enough drivers and also some companies have no demand especially as they supplied the hospitality industry. Such a waste of food."
"Could you please pray for the health & well being of our staff, and that they know their significant contribution at this time?"
"People in business are feeling anxious and overwhelmed at the minute; the responsibility of paying staff and keeping suppliers paid, everyday costs, etc, with the prospect that at any time their businesses may be closed. There is a fear of loss of orders after lockdown and uncertain futures for all involved, including employees. Pray that we will keep faith and courage in these uncertain times and use this opportunity to contemplate what is truly important in our lives!"
"Please also pray for continued support & recognition from the community for our staff in these difficult circumstances. Please pray that we will come through these challenging times, as all family businesses are an integral part of a local community."
Heavenly Father we pray for all those who have lost their jobs,
been placed on furlough or reduced hours
and for all those in fear of losing their employment.
We pray for those whose businesses and livelihoods
are at risk at this unprecedented time.
Give them your encouragement today,
and may we, your Church be supportive to those who are anxious.
We pray for you to strengthen them, and build them up in heart and mind
with hope and trust, and remind them of Your goodness and faithfulness.
Even in this time of fearfulness and uncertainty,
Awaken new dreams for the future;
lift the anxiety of the unexpected from their minds
and give them hope for the future.
Pray by name for people you know who have lost jobs
or are concerned about current employment
God of all the world, give us wisdom in troubled times. As we realise how fragile our systems of security are,
remind us how much more fragile they are
for those who have nothing. As we talk of financial crisis,
remind us of the true financial crisis
for those who go to bed hungry. As we face challenges over our own resources, remind us that you teach us to share what we have. Inspire us to live in a Christ-like way, and to bring your peace to a world in turmoil.
"Come to the waters you who are thirsty;
though you have no money, come!
Buy wine and milk without money, and without cost.
Why spend money on what does not satisfy?
Listen to me, and you will have good things to eat,
and rich food to enjoy. Seek the Lord while he is still to be found;
call to him while he is near.
…..inspired by Isaiah chapter 58.
May God be your refuge and fortress; May Christ Jesus free you
from all that ensnares you; And may the Holy Spirit provide you
with everything for godliness and contentment;
and the blessing of the Three-in-One
be upon you, today and always. Amen.
